DirectorAban Bharucha Deohans’ thriller Silence 2 attempts to unravel a complex mystery akin to peeling an onion, but falls short with its convoluted plot and over-dramatized characters.

Synopsis: Commissioner of Police assigns ACP Avinash Verma (played by Manoj Bajpayee) and his Special Crime Unit to investigate a mass shooting in Mumbai’s Night Owl Bar. As they delve into the case, layers of deceit and suspicion emerge, centering around a young girl’s mysterious death. However, the film fails to capitalize on its promising premise, with loose ends and unnecessary melodrama overshadowing its potential.

Positive Aspects: Manoj Bajpayee delivers a compelling performance as ACP Avinash Verma, showcasing his trademark charisma and wit. However, co-star Prachi Desai’s portrayal as Inspector Sanjana Bhatia feels forced and lacks depth, detracting from the overall experience. Additionally, newcomer Parul Gulati’s over-the-top performance and Dinker Sharma’s exaggerated villainy further diminish the film’s impact.

Direction and Editing: Despite promising direction, Silence 2 suffers from pacing issues and excessive runtime. The film’s two-and-a-half-hour duration feels stretched, with unnecessary subplots and drawn-out sequences hindering its momentum. The lack of crisp editing contributes to a disjointed narrative, resembling a drawn-out TV crime drama rather than a cohesive cinematic experience.

Verdict: Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout disappoints with its underdeveloped plot, uneven performances, and sluggish pacing. Despite commendable efforts from the cast, the film fails to deliver the gripping mystery it promises, leaving viewers with a sense of dissatisfaction.

Film Review of "Amar Singh Chamkila "

“Amar Singh Chamkila” is a biopic about the renowned Punjabi singer Chamkila, who made waves in the 80s with his music. He was beloved by Punjab’s youth for his songs, which some found objectionable due to their vulgar or objectifying content. The film explores his rise to fame and his tragic end alongside his wife, Amarjyot. Directed and written by Imtiaz Ali, with Sajid Ali co-writing, the film stars Diljit Dosanjh as Amar Singh Chamkila and Parineeti Chopra as his wife. The music, composed by AR Rahman, features vocals from Mohit Chauhan, Arijit Singh, Parineeti Chopra, and Diljit Dosanjh.

The film opens with a gripping scene of Amar Singh Chamkila and his wife being shot, then delves into their backstory. The screenplay seamlessly weaves together different narratives, capturing Chamkila’s childhood, rise to fame, and his relationship with Amarjot. Diljit Dosanjh delivers an outstanding performance, fully embodying the character of Chamkila. Parineeti Chopra portrays Amarjot with grace, particularly shining in the film’s songs, matching Dosanjh’s energy.

The music, a collaboration between AR Rahman and Imtiaz Ali after 13 years, is excellent, with heart-soothing melodies and captivating lyrics by Irshad Kamil. However, the film’s heavy use of Punjabi may pose a challenge for Hindi-speaking audiences.

In conclusion, “Amar Singh Chamkila” is a compelling film, driven by powerful performances and memorable music. Audiences should definitely watch it for Dosanjh and Chopra’s acting, as well as the direction of Imtiaz Ali.

This Eid, audiences will witness Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff take center stage in “Bade Miyan and Chote Miyaan,” directed by action maestro Ali Abbas Zafar. Despite the star power and promise, the film struggles to deliver a cohesive narrative, relying heavily on explosive action sequences to compensate for its lack of depth.

While the premise of two elite soldiers embarking on a dangerous mission against a deranged scientist sounds intriguing, the execution falls short, leaving viewers craving more substance. Tiger Shroff’s attempts at comedy feel forced and fail to land, detracting from the overall viewing experience.

However, amidst the shortcomings, there are glimmers of brilliance. Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s gravity-defying stunts are undeniably impressive, showcasing their dedication to the craft. Prithviraj Sukumaran’s portrayal of the menacing antagonist adds gravitas to the film, reminiscent of Bollywood’s iconic villains.

The film’s production values are commendable, with stunning visuals captured across various international locations. Craig Macrae’s choreography of the action sequences is top-notch, offering heart-stopping moments that keep audiences on the edge of their seats

Despite its flaws, “Bade Miyan and Chote Miyaan” caters well to single-screen audiences seeking adrenaline-fueled entertainment. However, for multiplex viewers expecting more substance, the film may fall short of expectations, relying heavily on star power rather than storytelling prowess.
